The Roar Of The Multitudes

Today we were up on the Hill to survey the carnage. Full report tomorrow.

But as Cher Condi (doubltlessly flush with the roar of the Albanian masses in her dainty ears) declared, the Warlord's foreign policy is a success in World Historical terms because she and her speech riders writers tell us so. Elsewhere, believe it or not, some elements of the AgitProp machine still creep along, unaware that the brain has died — not too far off from Wehrmacht map makers translating maps of India into German in Fall 1944.

One had to hunt for them next to the “I Love The FBI” and “Alberto Fights For Kids” t shirts, but you could indeed find them. Here are two Albanian tokens available to Imperial City loyalists we spied. Oddly, denizens neglected to display their zeal for the commemorative stamp the Warlord received and ignored them. Perhaps something happened to Paris that we missed being on the move so much today that distracted them? Seriously, more tomorrow re above.

For that next American car!

Any praise given by the Albanians must be kept in the context that Albania is the only country in modern history to fall into a state of anarchy because virtually everyone lost their money in a pyramid scam. Shrewd thinkers these people are not.

You write real well.

However, a cursory check of Condi's schedule would have revealed that she did not travel to Albania with the President.

Jesus wept. And so did the Germans when they realized that Condi was at an OAS Meeting, staging a walkout during a rant by Chavez' stooge.

As New Port City denizens know full well, Cher Condi's Fabulosity (tm) transcends both space and time. Although her multipresence would not be via a police call box it would have Dolce & Gabbana matching door handles.

Thanks for the compliment. But if something interesting emerges here often it is not from us at all but summoned seemingly on its own by our audit of the new Shirely MacLaine “Crystal Channelling To Achieve Pyramid Marketing Success” audio books. The covers are nice, too.

We think Dowd is wrong when she says things like this:

“The most recent example of the Hellenization of the Bush administration is the president’s choice for war czar, Army Lt. Gen. Douglas Lute, who says he loves the Greek military historian Thucydides. -
Other Thucydides aficionados include Victor Davis Hanson, who was a war-guru to Dick Cheney when the vice president went into the bunker after 9/11 and got into his gloomy Hobbesian phase ...”

She mixes up terms and she kids herself thinking she's being clever against them. They are not Hellenizers and that's just one reason (among many) the present day Greeks, who know their own history better than VDH and Kagan, loath this whole crew. Dowd often boosts her targets accidentally - Like when she calls Wolfowitz of Arabia, she unintentionally confers credit and gravitas. She misses her mark.

If you look at both of those Dowd columsn, you'll notice she does something similar in both - she lets you know who she thinks is cool and who is not cool among historians. She thinks Donald Kagan is cool (but not necessarily the other Kagans) and she thinks Brinkley is cool, etc.

This has nothing to do with anything those men write or think, but is merely Dowd sort of setting down some sort of social marker that she has cooked up in her own mind, for her own perceived benefit. She acts like some sort of spokesman for the bien pensant wannabeee, but she's chained down with all that frivolous pop culture crap duct taped to her cranium. That Gore column is just dumb in all sorts of ways - Dowd is getting easier to immitate.

Compare the length dumbness of the words of the milliionair pundit, with the intelligence and pith of the short unpaid comment (about the 'two tonys') attached at the end:

It's worth speculating why Dowd is valued as she is. What is it that makes her so valuable. Comment does not doubt that she is worth her pay - we believe in the free market (though punditry is a retarded market because of a mostly-invisible web of guild-like and cartel-like restrictions). The question is: what are people buying? Why?

You're right about those last lines, spoken by her friend, in the 'Two Tonys'. It was clever. She's good, but bored, maybe? I just really can't believe the juvenile personal remarks about Gore. Definitely Colter territory.
