re Commander in Chief (personal oath) - It's not just the military - That woman who worked in the WH political office - When she testified last week about the US Attorneygate accidentally said she took a loyalty oath too Bush. This was without any guile or self-consciousness on her part.

Many Americans believe Bush is the Commander in Chief of the nation, not just the Army and Navy, et al. This is a failure of education and demagogues take advantage.

Brooks is just ridiculous - but he does that on purpose - There is something dishonest about his columns when he attributes motives to other people. How does he know Bush's faith guides him the way Bush says? Maybe it does or does not - or maybe partly, but not the way Brooks says. The Bush V. Tolstoy BS is just too much.

re "Too bad Webb did not smack Graham across his cherubic visage with that one on Press the Meat."

Graham was just asking for it during that whole show - making cheap meaningless points - Webb's hothead must have been cooked well done.\

We have long noticed some in active service - who have this bogus attitude of thinking they are some sort of remnant from an older way of America.- Interestingly, the Ron Paul set uses "remnent" in the opposite sense. They have a better claim on the word, but we would prefer less melodrama.

Many on the right are just itching for a backstab passion play to take place = They are sharpening their Partisans as we sit here and blog about.
