As with all things Obama, many virulent aspects of the Warlord/Movement operational memes have gone into quiescence but have not been explicitly engaged. It’s to no one’s advantage yet. If Obama weakens and a case can be made ala Bubba that he is unfit to be the exalted God Emperor Commander of the Legions, presto, meme punt. If Obama can woo the military by equating diplomacy and engagement as a ‘force multiplier’ (which the military get now more than the Neocons/Republican/Movement civilians do) then he doesn’t have to pick that fight.

Doga, well if that doesn’t make a Mexican billionaire glad he’s saving American journalism with a wise investment, what will? If only Hal Raines was still at the helm, ‘flooding the zone.’
Is Elliot Cohen’s recent book/meme about civilian commander supremacy still active? Wasn’t the point of that book to pre-emptively undermine brass dissents re attacking Iraq?
Interesting Lowrey uses the UN human development index to tell his story re Afganistan – Does he know that the right wing and his colleagues are supposed to ignore that index because it implicitky criticizes US policy via low rankings?
Sort of like Bill O relying on the red cross thru the years to tell his audience we are not torturing people at gitmo – then they red cross says we are. Or Bush Dubs using Human Rights watch for anti Saddam speeches, but then suddenlt they become a Soros-left group when they release reports critical of the Bush admin and Ehud Olmert’s regime.
Pardon the delay in replacing this placeholder post. We are prone in bed with heavily bandaged eyes still drifting in and out of apparently massive doses of painkillers. A relative took the Stiftung to Cage’s latest movie ‘Knowing’. The shrieks of pain from the audience as the cinemagraphic atrocity droned on to incoherent finale still ring in the ears.
We were lucky and EMTs got to us early. Others less fortunate are likely this morning temporarily without sight in blinding agony fumbling in their closets, desperate to recall where they last placed their Uggs. The horror, the horror.
Equally grim was watching Eliot Cohen saunter past our table in Dupont Circle (he was very familiar with my luncheon companion – first name thing). His seemed surrounded by a barely visible aura like an event horizon, sucking life and human souls into the maw. Otoh, it may have just been the bad dessert talking.
The Law of Threes suggest there is yet another event of equal magnitude yet to occur. A troubling thought when one considers Tweety et al. have not even arisen to begin show prep.

Rich Lowery on c-span this morning speaking with a tone of great authority re Afganistan and Iraq. Has he been to either one yet? We doubt it.
Sincerely Hope you’re feeling better – Here’s the number one news story on the NY Times website – Dog Yoga.
Might help?
re Eliot Cohen – it seems his main contribution to politics in recent years is that Dave Frum could invoke his name as someone he knew with family serving in wars of choice.
