“Cheney started working early, at the age of nine, mowing lawns and delivering the Lincoln Journal Star. Each day, Cheney would get a bundle of papers delivered to his house. He sorted them, folded them, and wrapped them with a rubber band. Then he grouped them in a bag, draped it over his bicycle handlebars, and pedaled throughout College View firing newsprint missiles at front porches.”
~Stephen Hayes, Cheney
(In other words, Cheney – like a lot of us – delivered papers.)
MATTHEWS: We took over their country, though, didn’t we? Didn’t we put the shah in power? Wasn‘t it Kermit Roosevelt and the CIA that put him in power?
BUCHANAN: No, it was Eisenhower. It was…
MATTHEWS: Yes. Eisenhower. It was under Kermit Roosevelt.
Emma Lazarus – no doubt – would be grateful to McCain for pointing out that she inserted no Christian requirment in her SoL poem. But it may be some time before McCain wins over professors who specialize in the Constition and the Establishment clause debates. Since the Founders actually rejected the idea – after debate – of establishing the US as Christian nation, the debate is over whether McCain is lying or just talking out his ass.
Do Presidents and Congressman have to recite the Nicene creed?
Beliefnet: A recent poll found that 55 percent of Americans believe the U.S. Constitution establishes a Christian nation. What do you think?
St. John McCain: I would probably have to say yes, that the Constitution established the United States of America as a Christian nation. But I say that in the broadest sense. The lady that holds her lamp beside the golden door doesn’t say, “I only welcome Christians.” We welcome the poor, the tired, the huddled masses. But when they come here they know that they are in a nation founded on Christian principles.
“The first dispatch from Reuters was that 10 people has been killed in a car bombing in Karbala. Ah, insignificant. Why do they even bother telling us? Then, according to the AP, the casualties rose to 30. Just a few minuted ago, Reuters reported that there were “at least” 40 among the dead. Who knows how many injured and maimed. And, to tell you the truth, does anyone really care?”

Hayes is such a lazy thief, that is the exact visual montage of the opening from “Barbarians at the Gate” with James Garner playing F. Ross Johnson.

It was obnoxious for Russert to alude to his past habit during a debate – completely inappropriate. Russert needs to be more self aware.

We’re still in the “hope” phase – awww-dacity is coming soon. Nixon warned against an early peak. But Barack does need a B-12 shot soon.
