Exfiltration . . .

Just back from a snatch and grab at CPAC. Amazingly their deviation detection system (DDS) at the door is even less efficient than TSA at LaGuardia. Not even a beep.

Warning! Animals Are Closer Than They Appear.

For a moment we did nervously consider being caught at the Shoreham border crossing. But upon seeing the Pajama TV crowd, Grover, radio jabbers and pubescent cannon fodder of both genders we knew the plan would work.

More to come as the psychic subdural hematoma wears off today.

If Obama stays clever and is patient – overtime Cheney’s stay behinds may become a wasting asset and some will be compromised directly and indirectly. Cheney has enemies too – and his inability to get Scooter a pardon was a big blow to his credibility and power. Maybe some can be turned and/or rolled up.

HERSH: I’ll make it worse. I think he’s put people left. He’s put people back. They call it a stay behind. It’s sort of an intelligence term of art. When you leave a country and, you know, you’ve driven out the, you know, you’ve lost the war. You leave people behind. It’s a stay behind that you can continue to contacts with, to do sabotage, whatever you want to do. Cheney’s left a stay behind. He’s got people in a lot of agencies that still tell him what’s going on. Particularly in defense, obviously. Also in the NSA, there’s still people that talk to him. He still knows what’s going on. Can he still control policy up to a point? Probably up to a point, a minor point. But he’s still there. He’s still a presence.

The sooner the hostile, anti-intellectual mouth-breathers are jettisoned, the better. I’m looking forward to such as Frum, Douthat, Salam, etc., working to win over libertarians and conservative Dems.

We see David Frum has now tried to position himself ahead of the pack in the Rush wars (cleverly stoked by Obama):

“A man who is aggressive and bombastic, cutting and sarcastic, who dismisses the concerned citizens in network news focus groups as “losers.” With his private plane and his cigars, his history of drug dependency and his personal bulk, not to mention his tangled marital history, Rush is a walking stereotype of self-indulgence – exactly the image that Barack Obama most wants to affix to our philosophy and our party. And we’re cooperating! Those images of crowds of CPACers cheering Rush’s every rancorous word – we’ll be seeing them rebroadcast for a long time. “

Col. Lang smacked Chait down for his criticism of Freeman:

“Freeman’s appointment has been under growing attack by people like Chait who attack anhyone whom they think might hold balanced opinions with regard to the Arab/Israeli dispute. They seek to eliminate from public life all those whom they think are not completely in the control of “the lobby.” In fact, Freeman has a long record of support for a just solution to the Middle East situation, a solution that protects the long term interests and existence of Israel while enabling the creation of a national home for the Palestinians. Evidently that position is not one sided enough for Mr. Chait.”

Yes, probably few demands for Supersizing in Nicosia. OTOH, one could see a contingent of football hooligans on holiday casually oogling Scandanian beach goers while lamenting the ‘oorible cuisine and lack of pints.

Taking advantage of the snow day to dive into the OLC memos released today. Pander Bear was meant a placemarker so it’s time for some new content later tonite.

“Partly because so many Americans fall through the cracks and don’t have insurance, life expectancy is higher in most of Europe than in the United States. Even the people of Cyprus live longer than Americans, according to United Nations figures.”

So Kristoff sometimes writes interesting columns (minus the sanctimony tone), but he always includes an odd nugget – ex “even the people of Cyprus …”

Cyprus, despite it’s recent trouble, has probably the best diet and environment in the whole world. Life there is healthy. It’s not Gary, Indiana.

Doc – we still have our ticket stub for the banquett in honor of Jonas Savimbi. Gobble gobble.

re McCain — , – t’was merely a youthful indiscretion shared here among friends! Really!

Besides, we’re trying to edit that chapter’s narrative to focus on the brief period when he was the best Democratic senator. The sleep treatment center swears this will help end the nightmares LOL.
